NCIDQ Examination Application Review Process
NCIDQ only reviews complete applications. It is your responsibility to ensure that you submit a complete application. Applications are reviewed in the order in which they are received.
A complete application includes:
- The online application and payment. You must complete the payment portion in order for your application to be considered.
- Transcript(s) (include all educational transcripts) in SEALED envelopes from your educational institution(s). Student copies are not accepted.
- Three (3) Letters of Reference in SEALED envelopes with a signature over the seal.
- Work Experience Verification form(s) with hours properly noted in SEALED envelopes with a signature over the seal.
If your application is submitted successfully, NCIDQ will send you an e-mail within six weeks notifying you of your application status: whether you are approved, missing information or not yet meeting the requirements.
Application Status
If your application is approved, you will receive e-mail notifications informing you when and how to register for the exam section(s) you wish to take. Your MyNCIDQ account must be updated with your current e-mail address at all times. We are not responsible for information not received due to misdirected or undelivered e-mail.
If your application is missing information, you must provide the information requested before the deadline. If you do not, your application will be reviewed for the following test administration.
If you do not yet meet the minimum requirements, you may continue to acquire and document education and experience to meet the requirements. NCIDQ holds your application for one year, after which you must submit a new application and all supporting documentation.
Checking your Application Status
You can easily check the status of your application via MyNCIDQ. To do so, log in to MyNCIDQ on the NCIDQ Web site and click on the "Exam Application and Registration" link. Three tabs will be revealed: New Forms, In-Process Forms and Completed Forms. Select the "Completed Forms" tab.
"Completed Forms" Tab (View example here)
Two rows will appear on the screen revealing the status of the two completed forms: Supporting Documents for the NCIDQ Examination Application Receipt and Examination Application Form. The "Completed Forms" tab identifies the completed form's title, the completed date and the approval status. To view what you submitted, click on either form's link. If a form does not appear on the list, NCIDQ has not received it.
Decoding the Rows
- Supporting Documents for the NCIDQ Examination Application Receipt -- Indicates which form(s) and payment(s) have been received. If an item does not show up on this list, we have not received it.
- • If you see "PENDING," you have not submitted all documents or payments and your application has not yet been approved for review.
- • If you see "APPROVED," all supporting documents and payments have been received and your application is approved for review. It does not mean that you are approved for the Examination. You will receive an e-mail from NCIDQ once your application has been approved and you are eligible to take the Examination.
- Examination Application Form -- Indicates the status of your application approval.
- • If you see "PENDING," NCIDQ is waiting for any missing information/payment OR is in the process of reviewing your application.
- • If you see "APPROVED," you are approved by NCIDQ to register and take the exam.
What can go wrong?
These examples are all actual problems that have caused potential exam candidates to miss an exam administration. We have provided suggested solutions to ensure you don't yield the same fate.
- You have not received any e-mail notifications from NCIDQ explaining your application status or what to do once you are approved for the exam.
NCIDQ communicates with candidates via e-mail and e-newsletters for all exam application and registration information. In order to receive important NCIDQ Exam Updates and e-mails, your MyNCIDQ account must be updated with your current e-mail address at all times. It is your responsibility to update your account if your e-mail address changes. You can update your information by logging in to MyNCIDQ and clicking on the "Update Personal Information" link. We are not responsible for information not received due to misdirected or undelivered e-mail. Please also be sure to allow e-mail from NCIDQ through any spam filters and make sure to carefully read all the information we send.
- You complete the online application but do not provide payment information.
NCIDQ will not review your application without proper payment. If you choose to pay by check, remember to include the check when mailing your supporting documents.
- Your credit card is denied.
NCIDQ will not review your application without payment. Ensure you have entered the correct information and that your card has not expired.
- Your mailed-in check arrives after the deadline.
NCIDQ will not review your application without payment, even if you selected to pay by check. We must receive all supporting documents and payment in order to review your application. Therefore, we encourage you to submit all payment and materials together.
- Your college or university sends a bill for your transcript rather than an actual transcript.
NCIDQ will not review your application without a transcript. You are responsible for any fees to your college or university. We recommend having your college or university send you a second copy so that you can review what is being sent to us.
- Your college or university sends us a transcript for your master's degree but not your undergraduate degree.
We will not review your application without all required transcripts. We recommend having a second copy sent to you so that you can see what your college or university sent to us.
- Your employer sends us a Work Verification Form that is not signed by both individuals.
NCIDQ will not review your application without signed forms. Please make sure you have signed the top portion of the form where indicated and your supervisor has completed the bottom portion of the form.
- Your employer sends us a signed Work Verification Form but there are no hours documented.
We will not review your application without a complete work history. Please ensure you have completed the top portion of the form, including your hours of work experience. It is your responsibility to document your work hours.
- Your employer or educational institution returns the signed forms or transcripts after the deadline.
NCIDQ will not accept late submissions for the current exam administration, but you will be reviewed for the following administration. We encourage you to collect all the necessary documents and send them in one package yourself.
If you have questions regarding the application review process, please e-mail applications@ncidq.org. If you have questions regarding registering for the exam, please e-mail registrations@ncidq.org.
